Modig open house to make chip removal rate world record attempt

Modig Machine Tool says it will be hosting an open house at its Virserum, Sweden facility on October 4–5 and expects about 100 clients worldwide to be present - among them, some of the most well-known names in the aerospace industry.

The event includes a presentation of the future plans, the coming new facility and updated machine portfolio. During the event, there will be machining tests of wing ribs on the RigiMill and various parts in the HHV.

A world record attempt for 1,000 cubic inches in chip removal rate in aerospace aluminium will take place on the RigiMill, claimed to be the world’s fastest aluminium machining gantry with a 240hp single spindle. As of today, the current record stands at 850 cubic inches.
