Premier takes the lead on SC21

Among the first signatories to the UK aerospace supply chain initiative SC21 programme, Premier says it has become the first company in its sector to begin the programme.

Among the first signatories to the UK aerospace supply chain initiative SC21 programme, St Albans, Hertfordshire-based specialist deep hole drilling, gun drilling and honing company Premier says it has become the first company in its sector to begin the training and diagnostics programme.

Premier has executed plans to attain the Bronze award level by May 2010, having already satisfied some of the criteria required, including achievement of AS9100, Nadcap, OTIF delivery of between 95-99% and quality to better than 99.5% (both Silver award level performances). The key elements are the business, manufacturing and relationships excellence diagnostics and the development of a Continuous Sustainable Improvement Plan (CSIP).

It is expected that this will tie in all Premier's current and planned improvement activities as well as adding those identified by the diagnostics and by customers.

“The SC21 programme is largely about doing what we already do but in a more efficient, and co-ordinated way,” explained managing director, Stuart Grant. “The management team at Premier has always formulated detailed ongoing business improvement plans. Now these plans will be absorbed into the CSIP to provide enhanced control over the various projects and to ensure we focus on delivering our objectives.”
